A good time was had by all at the OWN Equality Day celebration held on April 17. The film “Constitute!” captured the air of excitement, and the determination of Canadian women to have their say about what went into the Canadian Constitution and Charter of Rights when it was about to be repatriated from Great Britain in 1981.
After the film showing, three OWN members who had been in Ottawa for the historic conference (that the government tried to cancel) recalled those heady days — Janice Tait, Linda Nye and Jeanne Rowles took questions from the audience. There were so many questions that we had to wrest the microphone away from the crowd so that the refreshments could be served!! Here are some pictures:
